Parlor Greens' take on Dolly Parton's classic Jolene with their trademark funky organ sound! Gritty Hammond organ takes the melody while Jimmy James' signature rhythm guitar drives the whole thing! Tim Carman holds it down on the kit nice and tight keeping everything right in the pocket in a way that would make Dolly proud!

For this episode, I welcome back Tim Carman for his second appearance on the podcast. Tim recently relocated to Nashville, where he continues to be an in-demand touring and session musician and bandleader. He is also a member of the bands Parlor Greens and Canyon Lights. As an educator, he is the author of 5 books including the highly regarded Haynes-ISM & Philly-ISM methods. His forthcoming book is entitled “The Shuffle Book - The Language, Lineage and Art of Shuffle Drumming” which is the first volume of this series. In this episode, we talk about his recent move to Nashville, explore the key concepts from his upcoming Shuffle book, and why it’s crucial to play with other musicians to develop your creative confidence. The Shuffle Book - Hudson MusicFollow Tim:https://timcarmandrums.comInstagramYouTube... This week’s guest is Tim Carman (https://timcarmandrums.com/) . Tim international touring musician, session drummer, educator, and published author with both Alfred Music and Hudson Music. He’s released 5 books and we talk about all of them at the end of our chat. Tim currently records and tours extensively with GA-20, a three-time Billboard #1 blues trio as well as leading two of his own projects: Tim Carman & The Street 45s—a world-groove inspired funk band—and the Tim Carman Trio—a vintage organ jazz trio. He loves to shuffle and I loved this chat. Big shoutout to Zack from the podcast Working Drummer for connecting Tim and me. This was a fun one with excellent choices and one of my favorite honorable mentions in this shows history. So I hope you enjoy the 5 records that shaped Tim Carmen into the drummer he is today. Cheers!

Philly Joe Jones is an icon of jazz drumming who is most famous for his time with Miles Davis and his unique style of soloing and swinging that has made him one of the most respected drummers of the 20th century. Tim Carman is the author of "Philly-ISM" which breaks down the style and essence of Philly Joe Jones at its most basic form, so you can learn to play like the master himself!
Tim is an author, educator, and performer with the great band GA-20. This is the second book in his "Isms" series, the first was about Roy Haynes, and he is doing a great service to the community by breaking down the style of these legendary players.
